Each year, a group of Honours students from the Biomedical Sciences Bachelor program at Utrecht University tours leading research institutes and companies across Europe to explore diverse research environments, cultures, and career opportunities. This year, our lab was delighted to welcome them to the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London.

The visit began with an introduction to the ICR's PhD programme by our Deputy Dean of Studies, Professor Sebastian Guettler, who outlined the structure, training environment, and unique opportunities available to doctoral students at the institute. Students then had the opportunity to hear from Dr Jörg Mansfeld, Dr Rachael Natrajan, Dr Claudio Alfieri, Dr Alex Radzisheuskaya, and Dr Christian Zierhut, who each presented their lab’s research focus and gave an overview of their respective Divisions.

A highlight of the visit was the informal lab tours and discussions hosted by Jacky, Elizabeth Ryan, Hwei-Minna, Tatty, Mandy, and Rose, who generously shared their experiences of working at the ICR and living in London.
